Getting Back on Track!, Issue #2

Happy Holidays!

We skipped a couple of months and are getting back on track.

Have a safe and Happy Holiday Season. I'll see you in December.

In today's issue, you can find the following:

  • Housekeeping
  • Fitness Article
  • What's going on at the Fitness Center

Let's get started!

Housekeeping
Just a couple of things:

I hate spam as much as you, which is why I send you a confirmation email. This double opt-in helps prevent spammers from attacking my server and the newsletter. Unfortunately, the large volume of email cruising the 'net makes it likely that newsletters are identified as spam. I want you to continue receiving this newsletter and the best way to do that is to put info@briansekula.com on your safe or white list.

Secondly, if someone mentions to you they haven't received a confirmation email but signed up at one of my presentations, tell them to check their spam or junk mail folder. If they still can't find it, forward this email to them so they can re-register. If they are able to successfully re-register, let them know I entered their email address incorrectly.

Fitness Article - 10 Tips for a Health and Happy Holiday Season
We are no longer quickly approaching the Holiday Season - they're here with full force.

The next six weeks will be hectic. With all the parties, rushing here and there to get everything done - don't even get me started on the traffic, it will take a minor miracle not to gain weight or get overly stressed.

But never fear; I have a solution for you.

Today's fitness article includes 10 tips that will show you how to have a Healthy and Happy Holiday Season.

Among the 10 tips are:

  • Stay the course
  • Huff-n-Puff
  • Mapquest.com
  • Slow down, Speedy!

To read what I have to say about these tips and the remaining six, click here to download your own copy. Please give this article to any family, friends or colleagues you feel it will benefit. Better yet, forward this entire email to them and tell them to sign-up.

What's going on at the Fitness Center?
Methodist Hospital
I presented to several Living It! groups last week. If yours was one, I hope you learned something. To get your very own copy of the presentation handout,
click here. For the 1-page outline, click here. Both files are in pdf format.

I hope you learned that resistance training is an important key for long-term success with your current program. Many of you are currently exercising - that's great. Even better is that some of you have started lifting weights.

Like I mentioned in the presentations, starting an exercise program is easy. Sticking with it is hard. Most of us don't have a good match between our goals and current fitness levels. We take tips, advice and bits of information from here and there and try to turn that into a program. Best intentions aside, it just doesn't work.

After a quick start and some success, you get bored, the results stop coming, you don't know how to progress, or even worse, you hurt yourself. Then you quit and vow to be better next time. But it's the same old cycle and until you can match your program with where you are now and where you want to go, the cycle will continue.

You've come too far not to make it the rest of the way. And developing a plan that meets these criteria will help you get there. I encourage you to take the fitness portion of your program as seriously as you have taken the dietary portion. As Dr. Jones is fond of saying, water and exercise are now your two best friends.

Hire someone to help you develop a plan. Conduct an extensive interview with a potential personal trainer. Ask a lot of questions - questions you want answers to. And don't hire him or her to do the job unless you feel comfortable with the answers.

You can also come here for your plan, which will do all of this and more. Our Saturday only program is exclusive to those in the Living It! group. We will assess your current fitness levels and develop your exercise program based on the results and your goals.

There's more. Like starting and ending position photos for each exercise. They show you exact body positions for starting and finishing each exercise. Along with the photos you get text descriptions that talk you through the movement. Finally, we've built in progression and accountability so that you will progress toward your goals and stay consistent with your program.

At less than $40 per hour, it's a small investment with a big payoff. To get started today (we have times available for assessments on Friday, Saturday and Sunday), email me (bsekula@briansekula.com) or call the fitness center and ask for me: 281-933-8822.

Weight Loss Houston
We are running a special on our new program: A Simple Plan for Success: How to Look and Feel Younger in 90 days. Guaranteed!

The benefits and features of this program are too numerous to include, go here to see them all. Suffice to say you can't find a program like this at any fitness center or through any personal trainer in Houston.

It's different for many reasons but here are two: first, we include Cardio Check - a blood panel to assess metabolic function, liver function, electrolytes, thyroid function, inflammation and lipids; second, we offer a 100% money-back guarantee. If you follow your program and don't get results, we return your money.

To get you cranked up for the Holiday Season (or to start your New Year off right), we are running a special on the Simple Plan. For a limited time we are offering this program at 50% off - including the 100% money-back guarantee.

It's a win-win for you. Sign-up today! We've only got a few spots available at this price, so if you're ready, you better hurry. And, if you get in fast enough, we can even let you sign-up today and start in January.

To learn more or to sign-up today, call 281-933-8822 and ask for me or visit: www.briansekula.com/weightlosshouston.htm.

Cardio Check
We've been working on this for a while and it's finally finished! We've developed Cardio Check to provide you an overall assessment of your cardiovascular system. It centers on a blood test that measures several things, including:

  • A comprehensive Metabolic Profile: Measures blood sugar, liver function, electrolytes and more
  • Lipid Profile: Measures total cholesterol, lipids (LDL, HDL and Risk Ratio) and triglycerides.
  • Thyroid Function: T3, T4 and TSH are important hormones regulating metabolism and mood.
  • C-Reactive Protein (CRP): a measure of inflammation - the greater your inflammation, the greater your risk for cardiovascular disease.

In addition to indicating your risk for cardiovascular disease, controlling these is also important to the rate at which your body ages. If you'd like an idea of your current age, take this test - for those of you at the IRS office downtown, this is from the 3 Keys to Anti-Aging presentation I gave last week.

Here's how it works. You schedule an appointment with me, fill out the paperwork, I conduct a 1-on-1 consultation with you, and then we identify a testing facility close to you - work or home. You call the lab and setup a time for your blood draw. You take the paperwork with you when you go. When you are done, they send your blood off for tesing and within two business days I get the results.

Then I'll call you to schedule a results meeting. We'll talk about your results and discuss things you can do to improve your profile.

We are offering an introductory special on Cardio Check. Until the end of December you can save $30 off the regular price of $179. For only $149 you can get all of this information.

To sign-up for Cardio Check, send an email to: bsekula@briansekula.com or call the fitness center at: 281-933-8822 and ask for me.

******
That's all for this issue. We'll be back again in December for the next issue. Until then, Happy Thanksgiving! And break a sweat several times this week.

Brian
