Welcome

I'm back and this time it's for good.

If memory serves, I sent out a message a couple of months ago with the same thing :-).

I'm sure of it this time. The main reason for my disappearance has been the Fitness Center. Not that I'm unable to handle all the duties AND write the newsletter, it's something else. Because we are bigger than before, we had to do things differently. The one item that affected the Fitness Center was our shopping cart. It wasn't capable of handling all the things we needed, so we went out and got a new one.

The shopping cart we selected has several integrated functions, including a newsletter. I've been practicing with it over the last month or so and now feel confident in my ability to publish the newsletter with it.

This is the first message I've sent you with it.

What does this mean for you? Within 48 hours of receiving this email, you should get another one from me. It will be a confirmation email, which will require you to click on the link provided to confirm your subscription to Brian's Report.

The new system requires a double opt-in, which explains the confirmation email. It has to do with Anti-Spam (or Can Spam) policies developed by those that legislate the internet. So to continue receiving the newsletter, just click the confirmation link in the subsequent email you get from me.

Additional Note:
I've completely updated the free workout that comes with signing-up to Brian's Report. When you confirm your subscription, you'll be taken to the page where you can download the updated one. If you've signed up using the new form on the website, you've seen nothing but a page without links.

Otherwise, go here.

Newsletter format should remain the same with one coming out every other Tuesday, starting the 24th - I promise!

News and updates - there are a lot of them!

You can keep up-to-date with much of the news by reading our blog. Two really big news items in the last few weeks:

FIRST
Do you know anyone who wants to become a personal trainer?
Well, now you know where to send them. We signed an agreement with NPTI (the National Personal Training Institute) in June. We'll be educating those who want to become trainers on just about everything they'll need to know. I'll be the lead instructor for the first class, which will begin in October of this year or January of next year, depending on when we get approval from the State. About 18 months later we'll open another school, either in the Houston or Dallas area.

The NPTI curriculum is comprehensive and challenging. Upon successful completion, graduates receive a diploma in personal training and have received rave reviews by personnel managers on the East and West Coast. That's good and bad. Good for the rave reviews. Bad because there is no mention of the great state of Texas. There's a very good reason for that! There is no NPTI school in the state. Once again, we are the first in Texas at something.

SECOND
We will begin working with the Methodist Hospital System soon. We'll be providing education and exercise for their Bariatric Services Department. This is great exposure as I'll be in front of hundreds of new individuals each and every month. It was hard for me to believe at first, but I understand it now. Some of those in the Medical Weight Management Program or the surgery group (bypass or lap-band) have never even set foot in a fitness center, so there are some significant challenges I'll be facing, but ones that I'm up for.

Both of these are excellent deals for the Fitness Center and great for you too. As a subscriber, current member or future customer, you should feel confident that what we do, what we offer and what we say are so well-regarded by these two outstanding organizations.

You're Invited
I briefly mentioned the Pro Trainer II Systems from Vortex Fitness. Go see some pictures. I've said this many times, but this equipment is absolutely incredible. You can't find a single piece of equipment that will improve your golf-specific fitness more than this. And unbelievably, it's gotten better since it arrived. My neighbor, Gene Mitchell of the Sport Shoppe fashioned a golf grip that can attach to any of the handles. Now you can work on your swing in literally any plane!

So I'm inviting you to tour the Pro Trainer II's in our facility, which are part of the Vortex Area - really nice and exclusive! Included in the tour is a FREE t-shirt, a free 1-hour session (yes, I said FREE - a $120 value!) on the Vortex with me and a chance to win 1-free month of Group Training on the Vortex (random drawing held at the end of August).

All you have to do is register. We'll contact you to schedule the appointment. We're scheduling them each day of the week, before and after work and on the weekends. So go here and get registered!

You're invited, Part 2
I'm having a 2-hour golf-fitness seminar on Saturday, July 28 from 10am to noon in the Fitness Center Classroom. Cost is $10 and registration is limited, so sign-up today!

The seminar will be divided into 2 parts. The first part is a 45-minute presentation by me on the latest in golf-fitness, including equipment, training programs, resources, etc... You'll learn what you should and shouldn't be doing when working out to play better, either at home, in the gym or on the road.

The second part of the seminar involves evaluation. We'll go in the Group Exercise Room and evaluate 3 things: key areas of flexibility, balance and lower body strength.

You'll leave with the following:

  • a full-color handout of the presentation, and
  • a plan (workout) to get better based on the results of your flexibility, balance and lower body strength assessments.

The plan will have pictures showing you beginning and ending positions of each exercise along with text descriptions "talking" you through performing each of them.

The seminar also includes:

  • a FREE Brian Sekula Fitness Center t-shirt,
  • bottled water, coffee and refreshments
  • no donuts, even though Shipley Donuts is in our parking lot - and just because you thought "donuts" when I said refreshments, drop to the floor and give me 10 pushups.

If I can swing it (very funny!) we may have a golf instructor joining us - but we'll know more at a later date.

Alright, I've said this already but attendance is limited. Our classroom can only hold so many people. But with the t-shirt, all the information and getting better plan you'll be leaving with, you can't beat the $10 price. So register now!

Note: register first and when the confirmation arrives, click the link to complete payment - we accept Visa, MC, AMEX and Discover.

Act quickly and get Special Bonus

We got our hands on 4 additional copies of a Double Grip Medicine Ball DVD. You'll learn all kinds of new training techniques and workout programs.

The first four people that sign-up for this seminar get a copy of this FREE ($19 value)!

We'll keep track and give the winners their copy at the conclusion of the seminar.

Coming soon...Boot Camp Online!
This is the last thing I'll tell you about today before wrapping up. The last week of July and throughout August, we'll be shooting videos. We're going to have DVD's available for the Golf Fitness Boot Camp, 2 Balls and other programs on our website.

We're going to take these videos and offer an internet-based version of the Golf Fitness Boot Camp, which should be available the first of September. As a subscriber you'll get a brand new Golf Fitness Boot Camp workout each month.

In addition to the videos, each workout will have a monthly plan and workout log, so you know exactly what to do and when to do it. There will also be pictures and text descriptions of each exercise, so you will have something in your hands when working out and not able to utilize the wonders of the internet.

Finally, we'll have an informative teleseminar each month that will educate you on golf-fitness and help you along in your workouts.

For now, that is it. Until Tuesday, practice, practice practice and keep the ball in the fairway or on the green.
